Reprogramming Your Mind for Enhanced Transformative Qi Flow

Reprogramming Your Mind for Enhanced Transformative Qi Flow

What you consciously focus on, you are more likely to notice.  What you repeatedly say, you are more likely to believe.  And what you repeatedly believe and expect can strongly influence the way you consciously move through the world.

From a metaphysical perspective, “where your mind goes, Qi follows”.  Qi is energy with the potential to transform, and the flow of Qi is just as important inside your body and within your conscious thoughts and subconscious expectations as it is in your home, business and external surrounding environment.  Acupuncturists and martial arts experts are well versed in the flow of Qi within the human body and how blockages or too much or too little in a particular area can have significant effects on the individual’s health and wellbeing.

From a Feng Shui perspective, during the Ding You/Fire Rooster solar month (8 September until 8 October 2026) the Southwest sector will contain a double 7 energy combination via the annual and monthly Qi flow. The double 7's connect with the mouth, communications, food and teeth, injury by a sharp object or animal bite and this doubling effect has the potential to attract issues connected with communications, the mouth, food poisoning, teeth issues etc, so if working or sleeping in the Southwest sector, ensure you maintain good food and dental hygiene, be extra aware of your surroundings, cautious with all important communications and social media interactions and avoid 'drama llamas'.  There will also be a higher probability of coming into contact with 'sweet talkers' in the Southwest sector during the Ding You solar month with the potential to try and deceive you into parting with finances, resources and/or your emotional equilibrium etc.  Double check all facts and do your due diligence before agreeing or signing and if feeling unwell, get checked out by the doctor as the 7 energy also connects to health and the need for expert guidance from a 'healer'.

One of the fascinating systems involved in our ability to filter and prioritise information is the Reticular Activating System (R.A.S.).  Located within the brainstem, the RAS is part of a network involved in wakefulness, arousal, attention and the filtering of sensory information. Our brains are constantly receiving far more information than we could consciously process, so our internal RAS system creates short cuts connected to where you tend to most often focus your attention and conscious awareness.  It’s part of your brain's sophisticated attention-filtering system.

And this leads to an important question:  What are you training your brain to look for and respond to?

For example, if you are in the habit of waking up and thinking along the lines of expecting the day to be difficult or are in the habit of thinking ‘nothing works out for me’, or ‘people keep taking advantage of me’, I’m not good enough’ etc, then you are creating a familiar theme and pathway for your RAS system to automatically defer to.  And familiarity matters.

When we repeatedly focus our attention on a particular theme, our brains become more likely to recognise information associated with that theme and this in turn will tend to reinforce and confirm the story you have been telling yourself.

There is an old and beautiful idea expressed in the phrase: “Your word is your wand.”

It reminds us that our words have power.  Not because saying something magically forces the universe to obey us, but because our words influence our thoughts, expectations, emotional responses and behaviour.  If you continually tell yourself: “I'm terrible at this.” You are more likely to approach the next challenge from a very different psychological starting point than if you were to say: “I'm learning how to do this.”

One thought process closes the door.

The other leaves it open.

Consider the difference between thinking: “I'm always feeling overwhelmed” to “I'm learning to manage my priorities one step at a time.”

Or “I never have enough money” can transform to “I'm becoming more conscious of how I create, manage and attract financial opportunities.”

Notice how these aren't empty affirmations. They are conscious re-frames.  They take you from a closed conclusion to an open possibility.  So, if you’d like to have a go at giving your attention something constructive to move towards consider the following:

“I choose calm.”

“I am going to focus on doing my best.”

“I choose relationships based on respect, honesty and mutual support.”

“I create space, prioritise what matters and take one step at a time.”

The objective isn't to pretend problems don't exist but rather to stop making the problem the centre of your attention and thus becoming bigger and more consuming of your mind and emotions than it needs to be.

Imagine giving your mind a daily briefing by actively and consciously looking for possibilities, creative solutions to perceived problems, seeking evidence of progress, recognising beauty and acknowledging what is working and what you can be grateful for.

This doesn't mean ignoring reality.  It means deliberately balancing your attention.

The benefit isn't in pretending that life will always go your way but rather in recognising that the thoughts and words you repeatedly use help shape the lens through which you experience life.  Your brain is constantly filtering, while your attention is constantly selecting, and your mind is constantly learning.  So choose your personal self-talk carefully and let your mind know what you want to become more aware of, what truly matters, what is possible, what you can learn and how you can reframe the narrative and open up your perspective.

Because your word is your wand.

Use it wisely.
